Oarai

Located about 100km north of Tokyo on Japan's east coast, Oarai is a small town of around 17,000 people. Bordered on one side by the Pacific Ocean and by Lake Hinuma on another, Oarai is popular all-year round with visitors who come to enjoy the sandy beaches, watersports and fresh seafood. It is also home to Oarai Aqua World Aquarium and Isosaki Shrine.

Oarai is easily accessible by train or car, and is also the departure point for the overnight ferry to Hokkaido.
